The active ingredient in a nanoemulsion can be cannabinoids like delta-9 THC (D9) or other functional ingredients. The localization of D9 can be in the core and/or interface of the oil phase and may affect stability and/or release characteristics. The type of emulsifier(s) plays a key role and varies with formulations, including the head and tail of the structure. The particle size of a nanoemulsion ranges from 20 to 100 nm and can be controlled with engineered precision. The smaller the particle, the greater the loading capacity.
