Sarasota, FL - October 13, 2016 - Le Herbe, manufacturer of ultra premium cannabis beverages, introduces the industry’s first master blender. The title of master blender is not given to just anyone, but only to a select individual that is highly skilled and who decides on the composition of blended cannabis drinks or liquid cannabis delivery systems. Although this title is typically given to a person in the spirits industry, legalization in the United States is changing the way you consume cannabis and thus change is needed.
Jean Baptiste joins Le Herbe via France and has a long list of accolades in the art of flavor and the chemistry of cannabis. Mr. Baptiste earned his undergraduate degree in food science and furthered his graduate studies at a renowned school for food flavor formulation in Paris. Before entering academia, Jean was taught early in his youth about plant oils since his family has roots in the perfumery business circa 1912. Colleagues nicknamed him, “The Nose”, for his superb sensory awareness and ultimate dedication to his craft. These experiences along with a great education, family values, and love for cannabis give him a well deserved position within our company moving forward. “It is such an honor to work with a first class organization like Le Herbe“, said Jean Baptiste, Master Blender, Le Herbe “This is my dream job... it enables me to share my passion with the world and present the true essence of cannabis.”
If you are unfamiliar with this profession, years of experience and technical skill is required to combine the many constituents of cannabis into a beverage. For example, a master blender would decide on a particular base beverage like coffee, tea, juice, cider, or purified water. They would then hand select cannabis trichomes based on the terpenoid, flavonoid and cannabinoid profile, not based on subspecies names like Sativa/Indica or even breeder names like Gorilla Glue #4. A typical beverage blend may be composed of over 500 nutritional and bioactive compounds whose flavor, aroma and sensation will invariably be crafted for happiness, relaxation, energy, or recovery. Each master blender will work with one or more apprentices who will usually succeed them after a long tenure.
France is no stranger to epic contributions to the world of beverages. Some of the most legendary brands come from this region of the world and have brought with it names like Chartreuse, Dom Pérignon, and Rémy Martin. Le Herbe will follow a similar commitment to quality, but will be charting a new course as a non-alcoholic beverage. “All of Le Herbe drinks are not only healthy for you... they are hangover free”, said Baptiste. Cannabis drinks are quickly becoming something of great intrigue to big corporations like Coke Cola and Pepsi who see this segment of the cannabis industry as huge growth potential and the only sensible path towards public consumption. While many of the current cannabis edible start-ups focus on “low hanging fruit” (i.e., cookies and candy), only a few people in the world know how to infuse cannabis oil-in-water and make it taste good. Le Herbe is not only one of those companies who developed a secret recipe in-house, but is the only one who uses all-natural ingredients.
Le Herbe opened for business on December 1, 2014. This private and family-owned company is pioneering all-natural cannabis beverages with patent-pending and proprietary processes of infusing cannabis oil in water with a non-alcoholic solution. The team is comprised of exquisite talent in the field of cannabis cultivation, cannabinoid extraction, food science, bottling automation, and logistics. The love of cannabis combines individual traits into a respected company ethos and four basic principles: backed by the science of cannabis, people over profits, quality over quantity, and disruptive innovation. Le Herbe is the founding member of the Cannabis Beverage Association (CBA), an exclusive group of cannabis beverage manufacturers that help beverage start-ups and lobby for better regulations, and author of the white paper “The Art and Science of Cannabis Beverages”.
